Headshot of PicantePicante - ABC 1282 F - Buckskin Pinto
Born - July 17. 1990
We purchased Picante in 1996 and he was in need of extensive care. He was completely wild when we picked him up in Boise, Idaho. It took 6 men with ropes to get him into our trailer. He had tremendous strength and conviction. I just wanted to get him away from that environment. His feet needed extensive care. I wish I knew then about bodywork and recovery of poor maintenance in an animal. After about 1 month he starting coming around and really produced some of my most favorite offspring. One of his offspring that we still have with us - actually bought her back from her owner - is Heaven’s Dancing Daria. Picante’s background is very interesting and that is why we were interested in him in the first place. His line on his sire side goes all the way back to OB Pinto D, one of the original curlies found in the Nevada desert. His dam’s side is full of buckskin quarter horse. We sold Picante in 1997 to a breeder in northern Idaho along with Destiny and her foal.

Headshot of KewatinKewatin - Full Curly Gelding
We purchased Kewatin from Joe Mead in 1995. He was a sweetheart from the beginning. He was a very interesting fellow. He trained beautifully, never bucked or kicked. The first time we got on his back he just shock for about 5 minutes and then looked up as to say “okay what’s next?” One time my husband was riding Kewatin in a pasture across from our ranch and 4 big dogs came running up as to attack him and he just stood and shock - he never ran. If he had run, my husband and Kewatin might have been seriously hurt but by not running the dogs calmed down. Kewatin was an extreme curly in both hair and behavior. We sold Kewatin to a lovely family in the Portland area in 1997.
